Opened in 1996, the Crowne Plaza Indianapolis Downtown Union Station features 273 guestrooms, including vintage train cars converted into stylish accommodations. This represents what’s believed to be America’s largest private collection of Pullman cars.

Hotel Amenities

The moderately priced hotel also offers a fitness room, swimming pool and dining facilities. Additionally, the smokefree hotel holds one of the city’s finest conference facilities. The most notable venue is the Grand Hall, a stunning example of the building’s Romanesque Revival architecture. Accommodations

Guest rooms are located across three levels and range from standard rooms to master suites and Pullman Train Rooms. Each guestroom features modern conveniences and amenities like comfortable furnishings, complimentary Wi-Fi and refrigerator. While Master Suites offer the largest living space, Pullman Train Car rooms are a signature experience. Situated on the second level, these Pullman rooms reside on original tracks of Union Station.

Accessible Services

Crowne Plaza Indianapolis Dwtn-Union Stn. features a number of accessible features. The hotel’s main entrance is completely accessible as are all other entranceways and doorways. Public toilets have accessible features, in addition to the fitness and business centers. Public spaces are completely accessible with Braille instructions and large audible alarms in hallways. Assistive listening devices are available upon request. The hotel has 10 accessible guestrooms and come with conveniences like tubs with grab bars and roll in showers.

Valet parking with in/out privileges is conveniently in front and along the main entrance. At this time, no parking attendants are on hand due to current health guidelines. Dining

The Crowne Plaza Indianapolis Downtown Union Station has two dining options. Due to current health and safety standards,  both are temporarily closed. Once reopen, 123 West and Taggart’s will feature upscale yet pleasantly affordable cuisine. Open for breakfast, 123 West is located where a young Thomas Edison once worked as a telegraph operator. Taggart’s is normally open for lunch and dinner, with extended hours on weekends. Once the dining facilities reopen, the hotel may also resume daily room service.

Fitness Center

At the left of the main entrance, the fitness center is currently open to three guests at a time. Access to the fitness center must be obtained at the front desk. The fitness center offers treadmills, elliptical trainers and a complete set of free weights. Also available are workout benches, exercise balls and medicine balls. Towels are provided, as are exercise mats for stretching.

Swimming Pool

Also on the street level is the hotel’s beautiful indoor swimming pool. With a maximum depth of 3 feet, the pool is safe for swimmers of all levels. However it’s also just large enough to accommodate lap swimming. Anchored by original iron girders from the train station, the spacious area also features lounge chairs and towels.

Conference/Meeting Facilities

Crowne Plaza Indianapolis Downtown Union Station offers 55,000 of conference/meeting space. This includes 22 meeting rooms that can be configured in a variety of layouts. The Grand Hall Ballroom has space to accommodate to up to 800 guests. But it can also be converted into small styles like a classroom or theatre style. With its classic interior, the Grand Ballroom is consistently one of the most popular venues for weddings. A collection of audio/visual equipment is also available, including slide projectors, microphones and TVs.
