Opened in 1931, the Art Deco hotel is named after famed American inventor and businessman Thomas Edison. In fact, it was Edison himself who turned on the marquee lights during the grand opening.

Over the years, Hotel Edison NYC has attracted an impressive list of celebrities and well-known public figures. Moreover, the Theater District hotel has appeared in prominent movies and television programs. For example, The Godfather, Woody Allen’s Bullets Over Broadway and HBO’s Sex and the City had scenes filmed at the hotel. Set in the literal heart of Times Square, the 26-story boutique features 810 rooms and suites. Minutes from One Times Square, the Edison is conveniently located near many New York City attractions. This includes Radio City Music Hall, Top of the Rock and MoMA. Hotel Edison NYC offers a variety of room and suite options to accommodate most any traveler. Choices range from a Classic Queen to one and two-bedroom Presidential Suites. In between are additional selections like a Signature King, Signature Suite and Signature Connecting Rooms.

Among convenient amenities in all rooms are Wi-Fi, laptop compatible safe and complimentary breakfast. Further amenities like coffeemaker, microwave oven and mini-refrigerator are available in higher level categories.

Accessible Services

Of the Edison’s 810 rooms and suites, 23 are completely accessible. Each of the two entrances are fully accessible as are the elevators. Furthermore, all public spaces are fully accessible and there is accessible valet parking. Also onsite are fire alarms for the hearing and visually impaired and an accessible public bathroom.

The current rates for Edison Hotel start at $134. This compares favorably to other hotel booking sites like Booking.com, Expedia and TripAdvisor. Bond 45, an upscale Italian restaurant has taken the place of the legendary restaurant Sofia at the Times Square hotel. Named after the historic Bond Clothing Stores, this is the Edison’s signature Italian restaurant and deservedly so. Open for breakfast, lunch and dinner, the restaurant additionally hosts ongoing live entertainment.

Friedman’s NYC

Friedman’s NYC is a lively cafe in the space once occupied by another beloved eatery, Café Edison. Quite busy for breakfast, Friedman’s is open for breakfast and lunch, with expanded hours Thursday-Saturday for the theater crowd. Early risers can enjoy breakfast items like granola, lox and bagels and egg dishes.

The Rum House

The Rum House is a classic jazz bar backed by perhaps the finest selection of rum cocktails in New York.
