With the cherry tree blossom season fast approaching, what could be better to shake off your winter doldrums than to enjoy these colorful flowers. After all, Americans across the country are more than ready for the warmer weather that springtime can provide. However, you don’t even have to wait until the official day of spring as the blooming season has already begun in some parts of California. As much as California gets an early start, you don’t have to wait long in other parts of the country. But by the same token, you may have to act fast as peak blooms don’t last too long. With any further delay, here are 10 of the best cities in America for you to see these beautiful cherry blossom blooms.

Bethesda, Maryland

The famous cherry blossom trees around the Tidal Basin in Washington D.C. gets the most attention in the National Capital Region. However, another top spot for you to see sakura trees is near the northern section of the Capital Beltway. As a matter of fact, the peak bloom is just days after the Japanese cherry trees in the nation’s capital. In more detail, there are some 1,200 Yoshino cherry trees in the Kenwood neighborhood of Bethesda in Montgomery County. On the other hand, Kenwood doesn’t have a cherry festival or specific public space in which you can view these flowering beauties. Nevertheless, Kenwood is somewhat of a hidden treasure and well worth a visit if you don’t mind traveling on neighborhood streets. For the best spots, Montgomery County recommends you travel along Dorset Avenue, Kennedy Drive and Kenwood Avenue.

Cincinnati, Ohio

In Ohio, the most typical type of cherry tree is black cherry although its blossoms aren’t like the common cherry blossom or prunus serrulata. On the other hand, in Cincinnati you can see over 1,100 Japanese cherry trees at Ault Park. The most distinctive trees you can see are the weeping trees that can grow up to 30 feet tall and wide. In the event you visit Ault Park, the blooming season is from March to April. It’s about a 20-minute drive from downtown to reach the city’s fourth largest park. While Ault Park is the main attraction, you can see cherry trees elsewhere in Cincinnati. For example, Bellevue Park and Eden Park are great suggestions as well as Spring Grove Cemetery and Arboretum.

Los Angeles

In America’s second most populous city, there is no doubt you can find several cherry blossom blooms in LA. Of the many spots, the one that gets the most attention is Descanso Gardens in La Cañada Flintridge. Macon, Georgia (Cherry Blossom Capital of the World)

Macon may be best known as the former home of musicians like Otis Redding, Little Richard and the Allman Brothers. On the other hand, this city in the literal heart of Georgia is also famous for its 350,000 Yoshino cherry trees. To put that in perspective, Macon has more cherry trees than any other city in the country. Moreover, it’s known as the Cherry Blossom Capital of the World and host of the International Cherry Blossom Festival in March. By the way, this festival coincides in late March with the bloom of these Japanese flowering cherry trees. Held over 10 days, the festival features several events, including a Cherry Blossom Ball and Parade.

Nashville

Did you know that Music City is one of America’s best places to see cherry tree blossoms? Indeed, Nashville that’s best known for the Grand Ole Opry and Country Music Hall of Fame has at least 1,000 Yoshino trees. Furthermore, there’s also the Nashville Cherry Blossom Festival on April 15, which includes a cherry blossom walk. If that’s not enough, Nashville hosts special events during Japan Week leading to the festival although details are not currently available. While Nashville Public Square is your top spot to see cherry blossoms in this vibrant city, there are other recommendations. For example, Riverfront Park and Shelby Avenue Arboretum are both known for these flowering pink beauties.

New York City

In America’s largest city, there are several locations where you can see beautiful cherry blossom trees. For instance, Central Park is quite popular to see blossoming cherry trees as is Flushing Meadows Corona Park in Queens. You also shouldn’t overlook Randall’s Island in the East River near East Harlem. That’s not to mention lesser-known spots like Hunter’s Point South Park, Riverside Park and the aptly named Sakura Park. Above all, however, the best spot in New York City may be Brooklyn Botanic Gardens near Prospect Park. Unfortunately, the Gardens will not be hosting its popular Sakura Matsuri Cherry Blossom Festival this year. Nevertheless, a visit to the Garden’s Cherry Esplanade will be well worth the price of admission. In case you go, the blooming season lasts from about mid-March until late April.

Newark, New Jersey

If you in the New York metropolitan area looking for other cherry blossoms blooms, head over to Newark, New Jersey. More specifically, you should visit Branch Brook Park about 10 minutes from downtown Newark. That’s because this Jersey park has over 5,200 Japanese cherry trees in 18 varieties. In other words, no other spot in America has a larger concentration of these cherry blossoms. The park is also known to be the first country park in the United States. That’s not to mention that the park hosts the Essex County Cherry Blossom Festival from April 1-16.

San Francisco

San Francisco has had a long connection with Japan and its culture. After all, the city was once home to the west coast immigration station on Angel Island, processing thousands of Asian immigrants for 30 years. What’s more it’s home to one of the three remaining Japantowns in California. In fact, the San Francisco Japantown is the oldest and is one of the city’s best places to see cherry blossoms. Equally important is the Northern California Cherry Blossom Festival, held over two weekends in April. First held in 1968, the event draws over 220,000 visitors, making it the largest Japanese festival in California.

Japanese Tea Garden

In addition to Japantown, you should visit the Japanese Tea Garden in Golden Gate Park for cherry blossom trees. Originally an attraction the 1894 world’s fair, it’s the oldest Japanese-style garden in the country. In case you visit the Tea Garden, don’t forget to also visit the Botanical Gardens, just a short walk away.

Seattle

While Michigan leads the country in cherry production, Washington produces America’s most sweet cherries. Whereas most of the cherry farms are in the Cascades and Yakima Valley, Seattle is also a top spot to see cherry blossoms. If you ask a local where the best place to see blossoms, chances are it’s the quad at the University of Washington. However, there are other great spots in the Emerald City, such as the Japanese Garden at Washington Park Arboretum, reopening March 1. That’s not to mention Seward Park and Jefferson Park, among others. Lastly, you must visit the city’s top attraction Seattle Center, which features the Space Needle iconic symbol of the city. In April, the Seattle Center will host the annual Seattle Cherry Blossom & Japanese Cultural Festival, one of the city’s 24 free cultural festivals.

Traverse City, Michigan (Cherry Capital of the World)

What better place for you to see cherry blossoms this spring than the Cherry Capital of the World? That would be Traverse City in Northern Michigan and in a region that produces about half of America’s tart cherries. Because of this, you can see an estimated two million cherry trees within the region. The top spot for you see cherry blooms is along the Old Mission Peninsula overlooking Grand Traverse Bay. However, you shouldn’t overlook a drive to the Traverse Wine Coast along the Leelanau Peninsula. The blooming season in Traverse City typically occurs by mid-May and last for a few weeks. That’s not to mention the Traverse City Cherry Festival drawing 500,000 visitors over eight days in July.

Washington D.C

Of all the best American cities to see cherry blossoms this spring, Washington D.C. may be the most famous. That’s mainly because of the gift of friendship from the mayor of Tokyo to America’s capital city of over 3,000 cherry trees. Each spring, visitors flock West Potomac Park for the blooming season of these beautiful Japanese cherry trees. What’s more, the city hosts the annual National Cherry Blossom Festival at the park’s Tidal Basin, which includes a festive parade. If you are thinking of visiting, the average blooming season is from late March into early April. While it’s too early to tell when the peak bloom will occur, your best bet is the last week of March and first week of April.

When you think of a seaside boardwalk, what’s the first thing that comes to mind? In brief, it’s probably a picturesque beachside community often accompanied by a family friendly amusement park. Of course, that’s why coastal cities rank among America’s top destinations in the summer. In light of this, it’s not too late to start planning for a seaside vacation before summer is over. Without further delay, here is a look at 15 of the best seaside boardwalks in the United States.

Atlantic City, NJ

Even if this list wasn’t alphabetized, the AC’s boardwalk deserves to be mentioned first. After all, it was the America’s first, opened way back in 1870. On top of that, it’s one of the longest and among the East Coasts’ most famous boardwalks. Extending over 4 miles, the iconic pedestrian pathway connects several of the AC’s top attractions, like casinos, retail shopping, piers and the famed Boardwalk Hall. Daytona Beach, FL

It’s not just the historic boardwalk that makes this Florida city so exceptionally popular. For one, it’s home to one of the world’s most famous beaches. For another, there are amusement park rides, arcade games and of course, a legendary racetrack. In addition are lively summer concerts at the time weathered Bandshell. If that’s not enough, head over to the Pier or enjoy an upcoming event in the Festival Capital of Florida.

Hampton Beach, NH

This beautiful seaside community doesn’t really have a boardwalk. Yet almost everywhere you look, is a business named after it. Moreover, with arcade games, cheap eats and small retail shops, it definitely looks like the real thing. What’s more, events are held all summer, including live entertainment on the Sea Shell Stage, a talent contest and seafood fest. Lastly, Hampton Beach will host a long list of world-class performers all summer at the iconic Casino Ballroom.

Hollywood Beach Broardwalk, FL

Blessed with summery weather all year long, Hollywood Beach has been drawing visitors since the 1920s. During the early days, a cement walkway was paved as this resort area was emerging as the Atlantic City of the South. With this in mind, Hollywood Beach Broadwalk now extends nearly 2.5 miles and among the best in Florida. Several hotels, eateries and tourists shops line the walkway to complete the total vacation experience. Oh and that’s not a typo, it is called Broadwalk!

Jones Beach, NY

Like New Jersey, the Empire State has an impressive collection of boardwalks. While Coney Island reigns supreme, Rockaway and Long Beach are as scenic as they are as expansive. However, the nearly-mile long Jones Beach boardwalk makes the cut here. That’s primarily because of concerts at the Bandshell and Jones Beach Theater. In fact, aside from Atlantic City, no other boardwalk comes close to this level of world-class entertainment.

Mission Beach, San Diego

Featuring a historic seaside amusement park, Mission Beach has not one, but two seaside boardwalks. The first opened in 1925, around the same time as Belmont Park. Today, the boardwalk runs the length of Mission and Pacific beaches . Unsurprisingly, the walkway is filled people, to enjoy snack shops, nightlife and shops for water activities. Additionally, on the opposite side of the beach is Mission Bay, with its own popular Bayside Walk.

Myrtle Beach, SC

Located along South Carolina’s Grand Strand, Myrtle Beach is among the top beach destinations in the entire South. The top South Carolina boardwalk dates to the 1930s and today runs 1.2 miles long while bustling with activity. The pathway connects visitors to many affordable hotel and attractions, including the 187-foot tall SkyWheel. If that’s not enough, there are arcade games, a wooden roller coaster and even more amusement parks.

Ocean City, MD

Located on Fenwick Island, Ocean City is a resort community with a population of barely over 7,000. But in summertime, it’s reminiscent of other popular coastal destinations. The first boardwalk opened in 1902 and now ranks among the Top 10 Best. The 2.25 mile boardwalk is dog friendly and known for its award-winning food options. Even more is Trimper’s Rides, one of America’s best and oldest remaining seaside parks. In fact, Trimper’s is the oldest operating family-owned amusement park in the country, dating back to 1893.

Rehoboth Beach, DE

Once named the East Coast’s Best Family Beach, Rehoboth Beach backs up the distinction. Similarly, the mile-long seaside boardwalk has earned its own national awards. The original boardwalk dates to 1873, the same year the town was established. What is more, the contemporary walkway is actually made of wood! In addition, there are family-friendly attractions like Funland and Ryan’s Mini Golf. During the summer months, you can enjoy free music for the Rehoboth Beach Summer Concert Series. In fact, the Concert Series features over 40 live music acts each season.

Riegelmann Boardwalk, NY

The name might not be recognizable. However, think Coney Island and you will instantly know Riegelmann is one famous boardwalk. Even before the wooden walkway was completed in 1923, Coney Island was by far, America’s largest amusement area. Although many attractions have come and gone, Coney Island continues to draw enormous crowds. A few landmark attractions are thankfully still around, like the Cyclone, Wonder Wheel and original Nathan’s Famous hot dog stand. That’s not to mention the 250-foot tall Parachute Jump tower, although it’s no longer operational.

Santa Cruz Boardwalk, CA

Like many of today’s amusement parks, the boardwalk here is no longer wooden. However, the Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk retains some of its oldest rides and attractions. This includes the Giant Dipper roller coaster, Looff Carousel and the Cocoanut Grove. Opened in 1907, the Beach Boardwalk is the oldest surviving amusement park on the West Coast. Even more, the Beach Boardwalk has been named the world’s best seaside park by the Golden Ticket Awards.

One of the best ways to see the best of what Chicago has to offer is on a guided tour. This is especially true if you’re a first-time visitor looking for ideas on top things to do. Yet by the same token, these public tours can be quite informative for repeat visitors like me. In fact, I just experienced each of these following attractions, whether it was a guided tour or of the self-guided variety. As much as there are others to consider during your visit, the following are my favorite and most recent tours of Chicago.

American Writer’s Museum

If you love American literature, you might want to put the American Writer’s Museum (AWM) on your itinerary. Just a short walk from Millennium Park, AWM isn’t a large museum, covering 11,000 square feet on a single floor. However, AWM is the first of its kind in the U.S., full of interactive displays and family friendly. At this time, public tours are not available on a regular basis. Nevertheless, you won’t have any trouble going on a solo tour, while admiring the permanent and temporary exhibits. Better yet, each of the exhibits are included with your paid admission. Among the highlights you can enjoy are the Nation of Writers Gallery, chronicling American writers across over 400 years. In addition, you may also like the Wintrust Chicago Gallery, featuring leading Chicago writers like Roger Ebert, Ann Landers, Carl Sandburg and Richard Wright.

Art Institute of Chicago

If you’re an art lover, you must absolutely visit the Art Institute of Chicago. After all, it’s one of the world’s finest art museums, as well as one of the oldest and largest. Moreover, you probably already have it on your itinerary. Although you can certainly go on a self-guided tour, with or without using the museum’s free app, you can also take a tour. For example, the most practical tour to consider is the Visitor Welcome tour. These tours last just 30 minutes and will cover artwork you shouldn’t miss, like the large collection of Monet paintings and Grant Wood’s “American Gothic”. However, you shouldn’t miss other notable pieces of art, like Andy Warhol’s “Elizabeth Taylor” and Edward Hopper’s “Nighthawks”. That’s also not to mention Marc Chagall’s stunning “American Windows”. In this case, you may have to ask for assistance to find Chagall’s beautiful stained glass windows as its location can be tricky to find.

Bobby’s Bike Hike Chicago

Are you interested in a foodie tour? Bobby’s Bike Hike Chicago has it. What about a scenic bike tour of famous Chicago landmarks? Yes, Bobby’s has that and walking tours too, not to mention kayak tours. In other words, Bobby’s Bike Hike Chicago has a wide variety of affordable tours, with options for adults only, families with children and more. Although you can choose any tour, a Chicago Favorites Walking & Food Tour is quite popular. In this case, you get to try out some of Chicago’s most famous food items, like Lou Malnati’s deep-dish pizza and Chicago-style hot dog. Similarly, your tour guide will lead you to famous landmarks like the Wrigley Building and the River Walk.

More With Bobby’s Bike Hike

If that’s not enough, you also get to savor an Italian beef sandwich from Bongiorno’s and a brownie at the historic Palmer House hotel. Incidentally, the Palmer House was the first to create a brownie for guests attending the 1893 Chicago World’s Fair. Among the best in the nation, Bobby’s is led by Jeremy Lewno, who named the thriving small business after his father Bob.

Chicago’s First Lady Architectural River Cruise

Of all the many Chicago tours and attractions, the top recommendation might be a Chicago architectural river cruise. Although you have a few tour operators to choose from, I was fortunate to connect with Chicago’s First Lady Cruises. Even though any tour operator can offer you a splendid experience, First Lady Cruises definitely stood out. That’s because of its association with the prestigious Chicago Architecture Center, which also happens to be nearby. Another key point is that First Lady is listed among TripAdvisor’s Top Ten Tours in America. Furthermore, Chicago’s First Lady is also USA Today’s No. 1 boat tour in North America.

Length of the River Cruise

The 90-minute Architectural River Cruise will take you across all three sections of the Chicago River. During this time, your tour guide will point out famous architectural landmarks like Willis Tower, Tribune Tower, Marina City and the historic Montgomery Ward Complex.

Color Factory

As far as Chicago attractions go, the top thing to do at Willis Tower is walking onto the Edge at Skydeck Chicago. Indeed, what can be more thrilling than walking onto a small glass platform on the second tallest building in North America? Be that as it may, Skydeck isn’t the only thing you can do at Willis Tower. Indeed, there is the new Catalog, a 300,000 square foot addition featuring dining and attractions like Color Factory Chicago. The latter is a family friendly, interactive art museum that’s quite popular amongst Instagram and TikTok social media influencers. Indeed, Color Factory Chicago features several art installations across multiple rooms with eye catching imagery. In detail, you may find one mirror maze room while another room features an enormous green ball pit that’s perfect for your selfie. In all, it will take you about a half hour to an hour to see everything.

Inside Chicago Walking Tours

Chicago’s river tours are outstanding, with boats taking you to see several famous buildings representing multiple architectural styles. However, you just see the exterior of these landmark structures, thus missing the oftimes dazzling interior design. In this case, Inside Chicago Walking Tours is the small business I recommend. Not only did I receive a personal invite from owner Hillary Marzec, but the tours itself are phenomenal. Of the public walking tours available, I was fortunate to be part of The two-hour World Within (1) tour. In detail, a tour guide takes you to see some of the most stunning interiors within the Chicago Loop area. For instance, you get to see the lobby of the Rookery, noted for its Frank Lloyd Wright redesign. In addition, you’ll make stops inside the historic Chicago Board of Trade building, Marquette building and the Palmer House. Your tour concludes inside the Chicago Cultural Center, formerly the Chicago Public Library. It is here that you can see what may be the world’s largest dome made of Tiffany glass.

Rock Bottom Brewery Tour

Chicago is home to several outstanding breweries offering tours of its brewing facilities. However, most of these are not in the heart of Chicago, e.g the Loop and Magnificent Mile. Indeed, for you to visit a brewery like Lagunitas, you would have to travel about four miles from the city center. Some other popular brewery tours are even further away. Fortunately, you can visit Rock Bottom Brewery, which happens to be in the vibrant Magnificent Mile section. What’s more, there is easy subway access, since the Grand subway station on CTA’s Red Line is right across the street. The brewery tour itself is just $20 and will be led by either head brewmaster Ray Gonzalez or his capable assistant Zuriel. Afterwards, you can try out their award-winning beers, like Stadtstrasse Kolsch, El Soltero, Mob Boos and Barrel Aged Naughty Scot. Of course you can also dine at Rock bottom, with a menu that features pizza, handhelds, salads, bowls and affordable main courses.

Wrigley Field Chicago Tours

Taking a tour of Wrigley Field is the the next best thing to going to a Chicago Cubs ballgame. After all, you’re inside this historic stadium, second oldest in Major League Baseball. What’s more, your tour guides will take you around the entire ballpark while talking about its storied history. You even get to see but not touch, the famous Wrigley Field ivy covering the outfield walls. In addition, your tour guides will lead you through the visiting team’s locker room, the press box and other select seats. Your tour concludes right at the Cubs dugout, where you can have your picture taken.

Famous Visiting Ballplayers

Although the visitor locker room is much smaller than the Cubs, can you imagine the people who have been here? For instance, Babe Ruth, Ty Cobb and even Michael Jordan when he was with the cross-town White Sox. In fact, Wrigley was the setting for Babe Ruth’s called HR shot during the 1932 World Series. That’s not to mention baseball icons like Willie Mays, Hank Aaron and inter-league rivals like Stan Musial and Ken Griffey Jr.

One of the biggest highlights of my recent trip to Chicago was dining at Michelin star restaurant Temporis, After all, Temporis is just one of only 23 restaurants in Chicago to hold this coveted distinction. What’s more, I knew going in that Chef Troy Jorge would create some of the most beautiful dishes I’ve ever seen. That’s because this elite chef and I follow each other on Instagram. As a result, I’ve seen quite a number of his masterful creations on his and the restaurant’s social media pages. With this in mind, please take a look at some of his most dazzling expressions of contemporary American cuisine. By the same token, you can see what you can expect from a Michelin star restaurant in Chicago.

Temporis

Chef Troy’s current seasonal tasting menu features 10 extraordinary dishes that push the boundaries of creation and taste. However, Chef Troy took my culinary experience at Temporis an even higher level, with not 10, but 13 dishes. That’s not to mention the complimentary wine pairing and some noticeable upgraded ingredients. Be that as it may, there is no doubt your dishes will be just as enticing as any of mine. In light of this, I’ll try to focus on items that appear on the current menu. On the other hand, there are a few that deserve additional merit. As much as this tasting menu will exceed your expectations, please know that a new seasonal tasting menu may appear very soon. Despite this, you will not be disappointed.

Canapés

Chef Troy kickstarts off your immersive Chicago Michelin star experience with a trio of canapés, in addition to a vial of hibiscus tea. Although my items were slightly different, you can expect a delicious morsel of wagyu wonton along with premium Osetra caviar. The hibiscus tea also had an intriguing presentation, with a chemistry lab-like vial supported from a metal stand and stone base. By all means, consider pairing these bite-sized gourmet items with the superb champagne blend from Champagne Louis Nicaise. Similarly, you can always check with the sommelier for any of your wine selections, whether you like elegant, opulent etc.

Foie Gras

There is very good chance that you have never tried foie gras such as this. In this case, you’ll have a delicate foie gras parfait that’s served inside of an eggshell. For this reason, you’ll have to be careful when placing your spoon through this delectable treat. Once you get past the thin blueberry powder, enjoy the incredible flavors of blueberry, granola and Yuzu fruit. There is no doubt that you’ll agree that it’s superb. In fact, it’s one of the more memorable highlights of this evening full of gourmet surprises.

Caviar

One dish that wasn’t on the seasonal menu but worthy of mentioning is Chef Troy’s Caviar. Indicative of the Michelin star quality of the cuisine, Caviar is a tantalizing variation of the Vietnamese dessert Chè chuối. Remarkably tasty and inventive, it’s a gourmet soup with Thai banana, tapioca, lime gel and splashes of coconut cream. It’s also coupled with a miso banana bread crouton, edible floral accents and of course, your caviar. Lastly it features a dash of chili oil, contributing to its savory edge. Caviar can be paired with Bourgogne-Aligoté, a white wine from the Bourgogne appellate region in France.

Tomato

Although each item is as delicious as it’s delightful, I’m hopeful that Tomato or its variation will appear in the next tasting menu. That’s because of its vividly colorful presentation along with an item that bursts with natural flavors. This offering is a yellow tomato gazpacho with a flavorful brioche, cucumbers and basil. On the other hand, it’s a supremely elevated version, precision crafted inside a lowball cocktail glass. Tomato pairs exceptionally well with the sweet, golden colored Kracher wine from Burgenland, Austria.

Corn

The simplicity of its name belies its true intentions. Indeed, corn is truly one of the Chef Troy’s signature dishes. Indeed, it’s so enticing, it’s the first dish lauded in the Michelin Guide’s Point of View in the section on Temporis. A very playful take on an American staple, your star chef will bring out this dish with a lather of butter amid sprinkles of Espelette pepper. But the proverbial icing on the cake is when the chef grates a generous amount of black summer truffle. Lastly, don’t forget to sample the husk as it’s deliciously edible as well.

Basil (Mousse)

The last of the 10 items from the seasonal tasting menu, but certainly not the least is the Basil dessert. Although Chef Troy came out with one last surprise dessert, Basil stood out among the dessert creations. A decadently delicious finale, Basil has dark chocolate, black mint, Meyer lemon gelée and chocolate crumbs. That’s to say nothing of the finely placed basil leaves and additional accents. After it’s brought to your table, the chef or your server will then pour warm dark chocolate across a portion of this delicacy. This lofty grand finale is another example of why Temporis has consistently been awarded a Michelin star in Chicago. In fact, you shouldn’t be surprised if a second Michelin star is eventually bestowed upon Temporis restaurant. After all, Chef Troy’s cooking is by all means, certainly worth a detour and maybe even a special journey. He is truly a master of gastronomy and someone worthy of further accolades.

Synopsis

As the syndicated national travel writer for CBS, I’ve had the pleasure of dining at several Michelin star restaurants, including another in Chicago. That’s not to mention several more that feature a James Beard Award-winning chef. However, in terms of quality of cooking and presentation, I have not had a better dining experience than at Temporis. Although my days with CBS have passed, I feel truly fortunate that I’m still able to dine at some of the finest restaurants in America.

Ringing its bells again for the first time in five years, Big Ben may be the world’s most famous clock. However, the name Big Ben refers to the largest bell of the Great Clock of Westminster, now known as the Elizabeth Tower. Either way, Big Ben is one of England’s best-known landmarks and one of the world’s most photographed clocks. What’s more, this Gothic Revival masterpiece was the world’s largest and most accurate four facing clock upon opening in 1859. While the bells are ringing again since November, its interior is currently inaccessible. Nevertheless, you’ll have plenty of photo opportunities of this cultural attraction, particularly from the London Eye.

If you visit Tate Modern, don’t miss Rodin’s “The Kiss”, Warhol’s “Marilyn Diptych” and Picasso’s “Nude Woman with Necklace”. Both Tate museums are admission free and tickets are not required.

An Abbey Road in the United States? As a matter of fact there’s one in downtown Las Vegas. Just a few blocks from Las Vegas Boulevard is that tribute to arguably the world’s most famous crosswalk. But then again, it’s not nearly as wide nor as busy, in terms of road traffic. At the same time, it is a worthwhile visit, especially for fans of The Beatles. What’s more, you can even see Ringo Starr’s handprints and autograph on the sidewalk. In addition, there are other Beatles’ related attractions by Abbey Road Crossing. For instance, there is a sign on a wall that resembles the original Abbey Road sign in London. If that’s not enough, there is also a smaller version of the Imagine mosaic at the crossing median.

One of the most iconic buildings in Los Angeles is the former headquarters of Capitol Records. Known as the world’s first circular office tower, it resembles a stack of 45 rpm records. Although the Beatles never made a record in the U.S., most of their hits were on the Capitol Records label. In other words, this building has a very special place in British rock history. Another key point for you to know is what’s outside the front door. There, the on sidewalk you will see the Hollywood Walk of Fame stars for each of the Beatles. However, the Beatles own star on the Walk of Fame is at a different spot. In fact, it’s about 1.5 miles away, at 7080 Hollywood Boulevard.

Ed Sullivan Theater

Of all the American venues where the Beatles made appearances, the Ed Sullivan Theater is the most iconic. It’s also among the most obvious places in Beatles history, whether it’s in America or across the Pond. For one thing, the theater was the spot where the Beatles made their very first stateside appearance on live television. For another, 73 million people were watching on television of that first performance on February 9, 1964. As a result, this single performance by the Fab Four set off the British Invasion of music groups. This led to successful careers of many British groups of that era. For instance, the Rolling Stones, Dave Clark Five, the Who, the Hollies, the Kinks and many more.

George Harrison Tree

Like the other Beatles, George Harrison had multiple residences. In particular was the Friar Park gothic mansion, with a feature role in the Crackerjack Palace music video. However, that home also has a dark side due to the attack by an intruder. That incident may be the reason why Harrison, his wife Oliva and son Dhani spent more time in Los Angeles. Three years after Harrison’s death at his Laurel Canyon home, a memorial tree was planted in Griffith Park. Although that tree was replaced with another, this site is a must-see for Beatles fans. You can the George Harrison Tree near the parking lot for Griffith Park Observatory. As you approach the parking lot, you should turn left and park as soon as possible. The tree and memorial plague is at the entrance to Charlie Turner Trailhead.

Rock and Roll Hall of Fame

The Beatles have several connections to Cleveland. The Fab Four had two memorable concerts here, including at Cleveland Municipal Stadium on August 14, 1966. Indeed, this was the last of the touring stops before Candlestick Park. The former Cleveland Sheraton also has a notable place in history as the host hotel for John, Paul, George and Ringo. Be that as it may, Cleveland’s most important spot with a Beatles connection is the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

The Beatles Collection at the RRHOF

The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame devotes a sizeable area to the Beatles. As a matter of fact, there are several rare artifacts, some that date back to working class Liverpool. For example, there is the signed contract for the “Silver Beetles” to perform at a concert in 1960. That’s to say nothing of the iconic grey outfits worn during the height of Beatlemania. Even more artifacts include the 1974 Settlement Agreement, dissolving the Beatles, Asher Family Piano and more. In a separate section of the Rock Hall is a tribute to the Ed Sullivan Show. Here in the display case is John Lennon’s guitar from the Beatles first live television performance.

The Beatles Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Inductees

Eight years after the death of John Lennon in 1980, the Beatles were inducted into the Hall of Fame. However, only George and Ringo made an appearance for the ceremony, along with family members. That’s because in 1988, a legal dispute was still active between Paul McCartney and the other Beatles. For this reason, Paul chose not to attend, due to tension amongst the three surviving members. However, Yoko Ono spoke at the ceremony, as did Julian and Sean Lennon.

The Beatles as Individual Inductees into The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame

John Lennon was the first of the Beatles to be inducted into the Rock Hall as a solo artist. In fact, it was Paul McCartney who gave the 1994 speech in memory of his longtime friend from Liverpool. In some ways, it was also a concession by McCartney to the surviving Beatles and family members. Five years later, McCartney was an inductee although there was no mention of his band Wings. George was next in 2004 and lastly Ringo in 2015, with Paul delivering the induction speech.

Certainly the most poignant place in America for Beatles fans to visit is Strawberry Fields. Taking its name from a popular Beatles song, this is a memorial for John Lennon. The centerpiece of this 2.5-acre section of Central Park is the Imagine mosaic. A circular piece of artwork, it can be found near the area where it’s thought to be where Yoko Ono scattered John Lennon’s ashes. This area near the Lennon’s residence at the Dakota Apartments was their favorite spot in Central Park. Although Strawberry Fields is popular year-round, the largest gatherings are on December 8, the anniversary of Lennon’s death. Each December, many people come to pay their respects and share stories. At the same time, people sing John Lennon songs, like “Give Peace a Chance”, “Imagine” and “Strawberry Fields Forever”.

It can be certain that any hotel that had the Beatles as guests grew more popular. While the Plaza is famous in several ways, it was the first American hotel to host the Beatles. In fact, Fab Four nearly caused a riot upon their arrival at the Plaza on February 7, 1964. Two days later, the band from Liverpool made their first appearance on the Ed Sullivan Show. During their first U.S. visit, several famous photos were taken of the Beatles. For example, photos of the Beatles arrival and subsequent interview at JFK Airport are legendary. However, many more were taken during their stay at the Plaza Hotel. Indeed, one famous photo shows the Beatles waving from their suite to the massive crowd.

The Beatles have made a lasting impression ever since they first set foot in New York. Fortunately, even after nearly 60 years, many Beatles connections remain in America’s largest city.
