About El Día de Los Muertos (Day of the Dead)

Día de Los Muertos is a holiday originating in Mexico more than 3,000 years ago. Held annually on November 1 and 2, the festive holiday honors friends and family members who have passed away. Although there are major celebrations across Mexico and Latin America, Day of the Dead is celebrated worldwide. In fact, several Día de los Muertos events will be held across the United States. Moreover, there are celebrations in Europe and even in Asia. This year’s celebrations are particularly special as most events were canceled last year due to COVID-19. Ofrendas

Guests of Pueblo Bonito Pacifica will see altars with bright colors at prominent sections of the resort. Known as ofrendas, these altars display favorite foods and beverages, along with photos and personal belongings of loved ones. In previous years, the most popular ofrendas are chosen by ballot. You can also see resort staff with Día de los Muertos facial makeup and/or traditional attire. Complimenting the festivities across the property is live entertainment. All in all, it’s a wonderful time to visit Cabo San Lucas.

Special Día De Los Muertos Dining

Breakfast

A special breakfast is available November 1 at Cibola, one of the many fine dining options at Pueblo Bonito Montecristo Estates. Special items available are Mexican hot chocolate and pan de muerto. Also known as bread of the dead, this traditional pan dulce (sweet bread) resembles skulls and bones. Additional holiday-treats are also available over breakfast. For example, you’ll see traditional sugar skulls and candied pumpkin. Of course, you can ask for typical breakfast items like eggs, pancakes and sausage.

Dinner At Cibola November 2

On November 2, Cibola will offer a special Dia de los Muertos dinner. During this time, the clubhouse restaurant will present its new five-course Mexican tasting menu. On November 2, you can have traditional dishes that are customary for Dia de los Muertos. For instance, Cibola’s mole will be on the menu, in addition to pumpkin desserts, like candied pumpkin with cinnamon sticks.

Pueblo Bonito Sunset Beach Golf & Spa Resort November 1-2

An exceptional multi-course tasting menu is at La Frida, the signature restaurant at Pueblo Bonito Sunset Beach. Named after beloved Mexican artist Frida Kahlo, the popular restaurant will present holiday-themed dishes. Exact details of the tasting menu will be at a later date. However, guests will enjoy a lavish dining experience at this AAA Four Diamond Award winning restaurant. If you had to choose one restaurant to celebrate, La Frida is the top recommendation. With this in mind, you should make reservations as soon as possible.

Pueblo Bonito Pacifica November 1-2

More details are coming about all dining events at Pueblo Bonito Pacifica. However, a Mexican buffet is being held on the resort’s beach. In addition, there will be the always popular Mariachi buffet. Furthermore, Day of the Dead events may be available at the resort’s other restaurants. This includes the Mediterranean-inspired Siempre, Quivira Clubhouse and Quivira Steakhouse. You can check at the resort for additional information on any Pueblo Bonito event.

Although further information may be announced later. Guests will have other dining options to celebrate Day of the Dead. For instance, Sunset Beach is hosting a traditional Mexican buffet with Mariachi music at La Nao restaurant. Additionally, Pueblo Bonito Rose near downtown Cabo San Lucas will offer a traditional Mexican buffet. You can check at the resort for complimentary transportation to the downtown area.
