With San Francisco restaurants struggling to stay in business due to the coronavirus, many are ramping up efforts to provide “no contact” food delivery and curbside pickups. While there remains a concern to maintain social distancing and the need to shelter in place, virtually every community small business and their employees need your support. The following are 10 San Francisco restaurants that are taking phone and online orders.
1601 Bar & Kitchen

A consistent Michelin Guide Bib Gourmand recipient for its superb Sri Lankan cuisine, 1601 Bar & Kitchen is offering daily curbside pickup orders from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Orders may be placed online directly through its website. Sample dishes from Chef Brian Fernando include red lentil and butternut squash soup, ground lamb curry and basmati rice. All produce featured in Chef Fernando’s inventive dishes are sourced from local farmers markets. Gift cards are also available online.
Buena Vista Café

Best known as the spot where Irish coffee was first served in America, Buena Vista Café is offering daily specials to go. Buena Vista is currently open from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. daily and sample menu items include the Buena Vista Burger, Dungeness Crab Melt and Reuben Sandwich. The popular café is also offering drinks to go, like mimosas, Bailey’s coffee and its classic Irish coffee. Bottled wine for pick up is currently 25 percent off. Customers can also inquire with the manager about items not listed on the menu.
Gallardo’s Mexican Restaurant

Gallardo’s is one of likely many Mexican restaurants in the Mission District to offer orders to go. Gallardo’s is temporarily modifying its hours from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. but advised that it is subject to change. Widely praised for its authentic Mexican cuisine, the restaurant offers several popular dishes like huevos con chorizo, pozole, chilaquiles, sopas, tostadas, burritos and many more. Last year, Juan Gallardo of Gallardo’s Mexican Restaurant received a Certificate of Honor from the City of San Francisco for his accomplishments and continued community support.

Offering an impressive collection of healthy food items, Kitava is taking orders for no contact food delivery or pick up. Located in the heart of the Mission District at 16th and Mission, Kitava is open daily from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. and is said to deliver to any spot in San Francisco. Lunch and dinner menus are available online and home deliveries can be placed through UberEats, caviar, DoorDash or DoorDash. Among the items currently available for curbside service are General Tsao’s Chicken, Cuban Bowl and the Power Bowl. À la carte veggies, small dishes, beverages and sweets are also available for orders.
Mina Family Kitchen (Pabu)

Led by Michelin-starred chef and restaurateur Michael Mina, Mina Family Kitchen is offering lunch items for delivery, take out and curbside pickup. Available for lunch and dinner from 12 p.m. to 8 p.m., food and beverage items are listed online and orders can be placed by phone or through DoorDash. Orders should be picked up at Chef Mina’s PABU Izakaya. Mina Family Kitchen is currently offering a 20 percent discount for all bar and restaurant industry workers for pick up, as well as 10 percent off for all pickup orders.

The sister restaurant to the Michelin-starred Kin Khao Thai restaurant is currently offering a daily take away service. Food orders can be placed directly online and can be picked up the restaurant’s front door, just past valet stand at Hotel Kabuki in Japantown. Customers should call to alert restaurant staff that they are ready to pick up or curbside service. Nari and Kin Khao are also offering a 10 percent bonus when purchasing a gift card. Nari is led by the renowned Thai chef Pim Techamuanvivit, whose Kin Khao at Parc 55 Hotel is one of the most affordable Michelin-starred restaurants in the City.

Arguably the hottest new restaurant to open last year in San Francisco is taking orders for curbside pickup, no contact pickup or food delivery. The multi-level concept French restaurant and patisserie is open Monday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Sundays from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Led by acclaimed Chef Claude Le Tohic, ONE65 has many exceptional items to order, like its daily $25 bento boxes, $15 Movie Night Special, French pastries and more. Delivery orders can be placed for online pickup or through Caviar, Grubhub, DoorDash, Allset or Postmates. Chef Le Tohic previously served as the executive chef for the Michelin-three star restaurant Joël Robuchon at MGM Grand Hotel in Las Vegas.

The highly rated Turkish restaurant Saffron 685 is taking orders for pick or food delivery. Offering some Mediterranean dishes including gluten free and vegetarian options, pick up orders can be placed through its website. Delivery orders can be made through its third party food delivery providers, including Caviar, DoorDash and UberEats. Among the popular items available are Baba Ganoush, Falafel Wrap, Shawerma Plate and Chicken Kebab Plate. Saffron 685 also offers other treats like baklava, saffron rice pudding, konafa, latkes and a Turkish delight. Current hours are listed as 11 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. daily.

The flagship restaurant of 13-time World Pizza Champion Tony Gemignani is offering a limited delivery and takeout menu. Orders can be placed online through food delivery partners like UberEats, DoorDash and Postmates. Customers can also pick up orders next door at Tony’s Coal Fired Pizza by calling the shared line listed above at 415-835-9888. Due to the popularity of Tony’s pizza and other Italian specialties, not all menu items may be available.

The world’s first 100 percent plant-based burger joint is offering curbside pickup and food deliveries. Open daily for orders from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m, VeganBurg sells several gourmet burgers, in addition to other items like dips, desserts and “sidekicks”. Customers are also urged to call ahead for any extended hours on weekends. Home deliveries can be placed through GrubHub or free delivery through DoorDash. VeganBurg has a number of celebrity fans, including Paul McCartney, who says the small chain is his Meat Free Monday Favorite Fast Food Joint.
